Please note that the grades on snapgrades are the final grades for progress reports.

Students will be getting worksheets this week for homework.

The students are also taking the school wide 7th grade cell cycle quiz this week. Many students have forgotten the information so they need to review chapter 4 section 3 on cell divison.

8th grade Algebra placement information went home with students on Thursday and Friday. Attached to their placement form is their Algebra Readiness Test score.  The test breaks down skills and concepts into areas of strength and weaknesses.  This will help to determine areas that students may need to focus on over the summer and coming months.  Please review this placement with your student.  If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.

Report cards will be sent home the following week.  Have a wonderful and restful summer break!

We are currently working on our Trip project.  It is due this week on Thursday for A block and Friday for B block (28th and 29th).  We have been thinking about our rough draft of a scale drawing of a dream house and will be working on that once the Trip project is complete.  The dream house is instead of an end of the year exam.  It will be due on June 3rd.  An updated status report will be going home on Tues. and Wed. of this week that includes the quiz from Chapter 6(they were returned to students last week – corrections are due by Friday, May 29th).  All quiz passes, extra credit, quiz corrections will be reflected on the final report card and not on the status report.

We have been busy working on our Trip project and just completed our last homework check.  We will continue to have openers in class for extra credit points.  Friday and Monday is our chapter 6 quiz.  Keep up to date by looking at our May calendar.  The Trip project due date is fast approaching.  We will then have an in class dream  house scale drawing project to complete before the end of the year.

I know it has been a while since I wrote to the blog. Most of you are probably wondering what your child is doing in science. If they tell you they don’t have homework it is true. Most of the work we have been doing is in class. Looking ahead for the rest of the semester. This week we will have our 2nd quiz on the body systems. This is what they should be focusing on. We will be finishing up dissections this week and next. Our final test will be the last week of school which will cover chapters 13 to 16. It covers all of the human body. There is a study guide on my web site for the final. We will also have our last binder check. I will be giving the students a table of contents in class this week or next week. I will also upload the grades for the progress report. We only had a few assignments in so most students who stay focused should bring up their grades. Unlike elementary school, the last few weeks are not parties and games. We have a lot of material to cover in a short time period and the challenge of the students checking out mentally and getting ready for summer. It is very important as parents to discuss this with your child so they do not allow their grades to fall before the end of the school year.  It has been great being your 7th grade science teacher this year, which went by surprisingly fast. I hope the best for you and your families next year as 8th graders and in high school and of course the future.
